May Flower Fantasy at Flying Unicorn!!

FLOWER FANTASY! You know we've always got something happening at the Flying Unicorn and May is no exception, so be sure to join us May 1st as we kick off our Flower Fantasy month! We've joined up with Manor House to bring you a new challenge each week. The Creative Team and designers from Manor House will be showcasing Manor House's beautiful blooms on our example projects. There will be Manor House flower RAKS too!!

Since it is Flower Fantasy month at the Flying Unicorn, what could be better than flower tutorials? The CT will be posting a different flower tutorial each and everyday of May. The tutorials will be revealed each day on the Today post with a link to each tute. We like giving away "stuff" almost as much as we like scrapping, so, of course there will be randomly awarded RAKS to 3 lucky people that post their flowers made using any of the CT flower tutorials.

As always, we'll have our monthly challenges and RAKS too!! The Flying Unicorn is one happening place so come join us!

Tim Holtz Canvas and a Little Bit of Wonderland

Hey scrapping friends!
Just sharing a Tim Holtz Canvas I did using some products from the Flying Unicorn Store. 7 Dots Wonderland, Crackle Paints, Distress Stains, and Mists to name a few!

I got the canvas at my LSS and have been waiting for the right mojo to come along to work on it. I really didn't want to go too overboard on it as I love the look of it already. So using some Timmy techniques from his new book, I came up with this.

I used one of his Distress Stain techniques using Peeled Paint, Fired Brick and Wild Honey. And basically you wet your background first with water in your mini mister, swipe on  your colors and while drying with your heat gun, misting with water as you go to blend the colors. Stains, Paints and mists can be found in the STORE

The other technique I used was on the Grungeboard butterfly. You cover the grungeboard with Rock Candy and let dry. Using your Distress stains dab colors throughout letting the stains seep into the crackle. Wait a few seconds and after it seeps in..use your heat gun to dry. This is the effect you will get..pretty cool huh?

I pretty much did that same technique on my Fabscraps Bird cage chippie..but it works much better on grungeboard. I then swiped some Crackle Paint on top of it to grunge it up a bit.

I used lots of stains and Crackle paints on this canvas and a few mists of Glimmer Mist as well. Here are some close ups

Thanks for taking time to check creation!!! I hope you get inspired to create something today!! Happy Scrappin!

Sun Kiss: Prima and April Guest Designer!

Hey scrapping friends!

Just sharing a CT layout I did for Flying Unicorn using new Prima Sun Kiss Collection, some Dusty Attic and Prima, Manor House and some handmade flowers! I apologize if the picture isn't bright enough..though the sun is shining, it wasn't on the right side of the house for me when I took the pictures.

I started by Distress Staining  a DA border and script stamped it with black ink. I cut that into thirds. I fussy cut the sunflowers from another sheet and made little tags for my banner (Thanks to Shona for getting me hooked on those by the way) lol
I circle the picture of my grandson with some twine after I double matted it. I used Rusty Hinge and Peeled Paint ink around the edges and masked the birdcage at the top corner. I also made the three little flowers using cardstock.

You have to check out what's new in the STORE!! Prima, ScrapCake, 7 Dots...and so much more! Don't forget to join us in the FORUM for some great challenges this month as well!!

Prima "Nature Garden"

Hey everyone!

Just sharing a layout I did using new Prima Nature Garden Collection from the Flying Unicorn Store! The new Prima lines are some of my faves!! Sun Kiss, Songbird, Nature Garden...all so beautiful!! I also did this lo for my scrappy sister Shona's Fussy Cutting challenge in the Flying Unicorn Forum!

I used a piece of cardboard and slapped some Gesso on the background page. I then masked the corner using Aged Mahogany Distress Ink and a Tattered Angels Glimmer Screen.
I painted the Imaginarium chippie window with Picket Fence Crackle Paint and then cut it apart. I used the shutters to frame the photo after I put some Sea Kelp Glimmer Glam on it. I then used the lattice part on the bottom right corner. I fussy cut all the fairies and birdhouses from other Prima sheets from the Nature Garden Collection.
I glammed up a Prima flower and dabbed a little paint on the pink Flying Unicorn Flower. I also used the arch part of the chippie here..

Come join in our fun challenges and see all the awesome RAK's you can win at Flying Unicorn!!

Thanks for stopping by today!! I hope you get inspired to create this week! Have a Happy and Blessed Easter and till next time..happy scrappin!

My Kit Creations

Hey scrapping friends!

Denise here to share with you some close ups and details of my creations using the new April kit "A Touch of Spring".

This kit has GOT to be my very favorite so far! It is packed with the most beautiful papers, flowers, embellies..and the OTP is off the hook!!! Ok I have lots to share, so grab your coffee or tea and let's get started!

For this lo I used gesso for the first time ever! I wanted to play around with it for a bit so just used a small rubber stamp and dabbed it in the gesso and stamped it on the paper over top the Shabby Shutters Crackle Paint.

I loved the little fence that comes with the kit!! I brushed some crackle paint over it and fussy cut one of the decorative sheets from Megs Garden behind it. Added some Flying Unicorn roses from my stash. I used the Prima bird stamps from the kit to adorn the top of the fence.

I misted one of the flowers with some Glimmer Mist and added some crackle paint..I am loving to paint everything these days ;)

For this next one I used the Fabscraps papers that came with the kit. The DA vine was from my stash which I got from the store.

There is that gesso again! I used it with a stamp I had (great tips from Shona!) I used Distress Stain Peeled Paint on the vine and then dabbed some paint on it which I blended with a qtip.

Thickers came in the kit, and I used them for "He". Almost all the flowers were from the kit and flower add on kit too.

For this next one I did lots of different masking on the background. I made this for a friend and co worker. I really wanted to make it rustic and feminine at the same time.

This next two are my faves. I really loved the decorative papers that came with the kit. Great for fussy cutting!! The DA flower is from my stash and is available at the store, as is the gate on the 2nd one.
