Mid Month University

Paper Popcorn Cart

Hi all! Welcome to MMU at Flying Unicorn!

Each month the CT challenges you to make an altered project. There are lots of fun creations and techniques to learn so I hope you join us!

This month it's my turn for MMU. For this challenge, I made a Paper Popcorn Cart!

I found a picture of one on Pinterest but no instructions so I had to develop my own. I hope you can follow along..lol!!

Looking at it now, I will make the next one a bit taller and with a handle.

You don’t have to fill it with popcorn either! You can fill it with anything you like..make it as big or as small as you need. But have fun!

What you will need:
2- 10x10 pieces of paper- One for the bottom and one for the top
4- 8”x2 ½ “strips of paper. All the same print/color
Decorative Border Punch
Score Board/Tool
Cellophane or Plastic
Adhesive
Decorations
Accordion flowers for wheels

Step 1
Score your 10x10 paper at 1 ½” and 8 ½ “

Step 2

Make slits on each edge up to score line. Fold and glue at each corner to make your box. You can make your top now too if you want, or wait to see if you need to make it a bit smaller. Sometimes lids tend to be slightly different in size.

Step 3
The 4 strips should be 8 in. long x 2 ½ in wide. Score all 4 strips at 1 ¼ .

Step 4
Using a decorative punch, you will want to punch both sides of each strip.

Step 5
Glue each strip into 2 corners at a time.

Step 6
For this step you can use cellophane or any clear plastic sheets. Cut each sheet to fit between each ‘post’. Glue onto strips. I cut my sheets 7” wide and then just trimmed the top after I glued them in.

TIP- KEEP PLASTIC AS EVEN AS POSSIBLE BETWEEN ALL SIDES. YOU WANT YOUR PLASTIC SHEETS TO BE TIGHT, BUT NOT 'PULL' ON THE PAPER. THIS COULD CAUSE YOUR CART TO 'LEAN' AND THE LID WON'T FIT RIGHT. (trust me on this lol)

Step 7
Make your top if you haven’t already. See steps 1 and 2.

Fill with goodies, decorate, and add your wheels! For my wheels I made my own accordion style flowers from a quick tutorial I found on you tube. They are super easy!

So want to play along?? Here is a yummy RAK you can win!

You can enter up to 3 times! Now let's get creative! Hop on over to the FORUM and come play along!
