Hey scrappers!!
I am so excited to announce our new March Guest Designer at Flying Unicorn but first want to say what a fabulous experience it was to have Gerry van Gent as our February designer! She did some amazing projects with the February kit!! We were beyond ecstatic to have her with us and hope we can get her to return in the future.
Now, I am SO happy to announce our March Guest Designer...Jeni O' Connor! Like Gerry, Jeni is my very top favorite artists! Her style is so hearfelt and dreamy. Each page tells a story..it's like getting lost in a fairy tale. Her layouts have left me staring at them for hours and I never tire of looking at her work over and over. Each time you will see something new. Check out her BLOG here.
A little about Jeni:
I'm an Aussie with a Canadian dh so we spend time in two beautiful countries. I'm a mum to twins who are growing up way too fast for me. Crafting has always been a part of my life and scrapping is where I spend most of creative time.
Jeni is a great designer and designs for Manor House Creations, Scrapbook Creations Magazine, OUAS, and has guest designed for companies like Imaginarium and Websters, to name a few. She is going to be a great addition to the Flying Unicorn Team!

Fabscraps Organic Collection
Hey everyone!
I've been working on a CT layout for Flying Unicorn for several days and think I am ready to share now. I started taking pictures of my finished projects to see if they 'look' right to me. For some reason I'm finding it works better to see the lo as a whole this way and you can really tell if something is missing or off balance. Well when I took a pic of this the other day..that's what happened. It seemed way off balance...so I added some more to it and think it's more balanced now. Sometimes we are our worst critics aren't we? lol
I used new Fabscraps Organic collection and chipboard. Petaloo and Manor House flowers, I misted the MH flowers with Puerto Rico Glimmer Mist and then painted the edges with white Crackle Paint. Used Distress stains and Glimmer Glam on the DA vine. All products from the Flying Unicorn Store.
I made this lo also for the American Idol challenge in the Forum. We were to use the title of our favorite song. I have several favorite songs, but I chose my very fave, "In My Arms" by Plumb. I believe every mother needs to hear this song..it's so beautiful!
Here are some close ups..
Well thanks for stopping by! I appreciate you popping in..and don't forget about the GREAT things happening in March at the Flying Unicorn! It's all about fashion starting March 1st!

Blog Hop Winner and Kaisercraft Layout
Hey everyone!
Well the blog hop was a huge success and I hope you all had a great time hopping along with us! All winners will be announced between tonight and tomorrow, so be sure to check each blog and the Flying Unicorn FORUM to see if you have won a RAK or the GRAND PRIZE!!!! So exciting to see who that will be!
Before I announce my winner, I just wanted to share I layout I did using Kaisercraft's Chanteuse Collection from the STORE. This collection is really beautiful and the quality is amazing! I'll make it quick as I know you want to scroll down to see who the winner is of my rak.
I cut out one of the birds from a journaling tag and made a little peek a boo with it.
Stamped another tag with some white embossing powder and wanted to do something with the Prima column so I 'draped' some Flying Unicorn roses and a small flower from it.
Ok enough with the lo..let's see who won!!
By random.org the winner of my RAK is:
PEGGY!!!
Peggy wrote:
Denise, that LO is stunning!!!!! I love your rich warm colors and inventive techniques, thanks for the inspiration!!!! Great hop, btw!!!!!
Congrats Peggy!! Hop back over to the Winners Circle in the Forum and directions to claim your prize will be there. You will have 7 days to claim it.
Now if you didn't win my RAK don't get discouraged. Make it Work Blog Hop!
Welcome to the Flying Unicorn Make it Work! Blog Hop. We’re so happy that you’ve joined us! The Hop starts at the Flying Unicorn blog, so if you didn’t start there, hop on over to this link and get started so that you don’t miss anything! I’ll see you back here in a bit!
If you are here, you should of come straight from the Flying Unicorn Blog.
Since this hop is all about fashion, I want to share with you a layout I did of my favorite designer, Michael Kors. He is so creative and talented in his field. I love his designs because not only does he do runway, he designs 'ready to wear' clothing, handbags and shoes that are affordable to all women. He also designs outfits to be worn in movies too!
Here is my layout based on an ad for Michael Kors clothing. I used Bo Bunny's Forever Fall Collection to try to match the colors in the photo. I misted some of my flowers with Glimmer Mist. Stamped the background with various stamps. Used cheesecloth for an accent trying to bring out the flowing fabric in the picture..tho I'm not sure if I succeeded..lol I used lots of different textures in it too.
There is a reason that the Creative Team members are all featuring fashion on their blogs during this hop. This is just a preview of the fun we are going to have in March during our Haute Couture at the Unicorn Ritz challenges! Wait until you see the OTP project, it is so fabulous. Hmmmm, what is haute couture anyway?
“The term "haute couture" is French. Haute means "high" or "elegant." Couture literally means "sewing," but has come to indicate the business of designing, creating, and selling custom-made, high fashion women's clothes.
To be called a haute couture house, a business must belong to the Syndical Chamber for Haute Couture in Paris, which is regulated by the French Department of Industry. Members must employ 15 or more people and present their collections twice a year. Each presentation must include at least 35 separate outfits for day and eveningwear." (For more information see What is Haute Couture by David Johnson. http://www.infoplease.com/spot/fashionside1.html)
The March kit reveal is right around the corner and I'm so excited to share a few sneaks with you!! This kit is amazing..and the OTP is over the top awesome!!
The March kit will reveal on March 3rd at midnight. Be sure to join us in the FORUMS for some high fashion, Unicorn style all during the month of March!
NOW..back to the HOP!!!
There will be a grand prize awarded to one lucky person who visits, becomes a follower and leaves a message at all the Creative Team member blogs. AND each CT member will also be randomly selecting someone to win a RAK so you will have 9 chances to win!! Here is my RAK that will go to one lucky follower:
Is that new ScrapCake I see??
And the GRAND PRIZE: OVER $150 WORTH OF SCRAPPY GOODNESS!!!!
All you have to do is:
*Become a Follower of each CT's Blog
*Leave a comment on each blog under the blog hop post. (you can not post comments on The Flying Unicorn Blog)
* You must make the final stop at the Flying Unicorn Forum and post that you've done it all to be eligible to win the grand prize! Winners will be announced on Monday so check back to each CT members blog to see if you won!
You're next stop should be Franks Blog HERE.

Kaisercraft and 7 Dots Studio
Hey scrappers!
Well I'm just getting over the flu and felt better this afternoon and tried to work on some layouts. I LOVE the new collections that Alda is getting in at the Flying Unicorn Store! New Kaisercraft, 7 Dots Studios, FabScraps, Maya Designs, Scrap Cake,..the list goes on and on!! Flying Unicorn specializes in hard to find paper collections and Alda is always hunting for the newest and latest fabulous scrappy goodies for us!
For this layout, I used Kaisercrafts Chanteuse Collection. I love these papers. So pretty..and the quality is really nice.
I felt a little off my game today working on these, but really was needing a scrap fix..lol! I'm sure you know how that is. Well won't make this long, but here are some close ups.
This next layout is made using 7 Dots Studio papers that Alda just got in last week. LOVE these papers and I really can't wait to work with the Dreamer collection! I used "All I Ever" Collection for this one.
Well thanks for stopping by!! Don't forget about our FABULOUS Blog Hop this weekend!!! Hope to see you! There are lots of fab prizes to be won and you can't win if you don't play right?
See you then!

New Fabscraps!
Hey scrappers!
New Fabscraps has hit the Flying Unicorn Store!! Both the Organic and Classic Collection are flying off the shelves! I knew as soon as I saw Organic, that would be the first thing in my shopping cart. It's beautiful..the colorings and prints are amazingly stunning! I decided to make a layout today using these fabulous papers!
I started by stamping with my brick, script and lamp post stamp. I then tore the corner and added another coordinating paper and distressed it. I layered the photo mats 3 times and tore another little piece from the background paper. I then added a cameo from my Ireland scrappy friend Cathi. I used Prima Lamp post and did my flower cluster using new Manor House, which is available at the STORE, Flying Unicorn and Prima flowers. I used Dusty Attic vines, also from the STORE which I colored with Copic Markers.

Mojo Monday and Flying Unicorn "Make it Work" Blog Hop News!!
Join us for a very special Make it Workblog hop February 25th and 26th! The blog hop starts at the Flying Unicorn blog and ends in the Flying Unicorn forums. Each of our designers will be revealing a very fashionable project on their blog that they’ve designed just for the blog hop. You know how we like to give fun “stuff” away, so of course, there will be RAKs awarded randomly to one lucky visitor of each blog.
If you visit each CT member’s blog, leave a comment, and become a follower, you will be entered in the grand prize drawing for a fabulous prize package assembled by The Grand Unicorn herself!
Our favorite part of the blog hop is that we’re going to preview the March kit with some sneak peeks on our creative teams’ blogs instead of in the forum. We’re also going to tell you something about the wonderful projects we have planned for March. Trust me; you are not going to want to miss this. We are all over the moon excited about our March plans that we’ve been working on for a couple months now. Don’t miss this blog hop because we’re going to be working it!
Now for some creativity! Mojo Monday is a weekly sketch challenge where sketches are designed by some our CT members at Flying Unicorn. Each week another CT member gets to play with the sketch provided to inspire others to play along! I was so lucky to get this weeks sketch!! Designed by CT member Tammy. I LOVED working with this sketch.
Here is my take on this week's sketch and some close ups. I used Pion Papers from the Flying Unicorn Store, some canvas mistable vines, DA border piece, Kaisercraft hinge and flowers, Websters cameo, Prima and Flying Unicorn flowers, and butterflies from Lisa Gregory. I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Screen for the masking with some peeled paint distress ink. I wanted to do lots of stitching on this but ran out of the burgundy thread I wanted to use, so may go back and do a little where I can.
Well thanks for stopping by!!! I appreciate it! I hope to see you all at the blog hop on the 25th!!! Lots of goodies to be won and fun to be had!!
Happy Scrappin!

Stitch It Challenge and Blog Hop News!!
Hey everyone!
Just a couple things to share today. Over at Flying Unicorn I'm hosting a Stitching Challenge this month! Stitching has become one of my favorite things to do on my creations. I love to see stitching on a layout..it can add so much to your project. The challenge is so fun and we are getting some awesome entries and I would love for you to join me! For the challenge, you have to of course, do some stitching on your layout or altered project and you could win a fabulous prize from the Flying Unicorn store.
I made this lo for some inspiration using CI Provencial collection from the store.
I did some masking and stamping adding a Prima vine, Kaisercraft and Flying Unicorn flowers. I painted a Hinge from Tim Holtz Grungeboard with Glimmer Glaze
I stitched around the photo and added some goodies. My daughter made the stick pin.
And now for more Flying Unicorn news!! We're having a Fashion Scrap Blog Hop soon!! Over the weekend of Feb 25th and 26th we'll be having a fabulous fun blog hop where you can win some fab prizes!! I'll post more on this as it gets closer to the day, but it's going to be a blast!!
Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you get inspired to create something today!
