Hey everyone!
Can you all believe it is July already? I know I can't! Summer is flying by once again it seems.
Well now that a new month is upon us, it is time for some fresh new challenges at Flying Unicorn!!
The great thing about our challenges in the FORUM is that everyone can play! You do not need to use a Flying Unicorn kit to participate which kind of levels the playing field. So you can use your stash if you want..or you can always shop the Flying Unicorn Store for some new goodies ;)
Since I didn't run a challenge last month, (work was crazy), I hopped at the chance to do one for July.
My challenge is to base your LO/AP/Tag or Card on a fictional or real character. I chose The White Witch from The Chronicles of Narnia for mine.
So I pulled out all the white paper and chose my sheets. The papers are from a previous kit from Flying Unicorn as are the Maya Road Canvas Banners. The clock is Dusty Attic and the Flower Vine is Twiddleybitz
I wanted to bring out the ice blue and icicles so I used Diamond Dust and Liquid Pearls in Ocean Blue and some Cold Ice Chalk after I painted the chippies white with Gesso. The oval frame is die cut using the Cottage Cutz Oval Doily and Frame.
So I hope you join in our challenges for July!!! There are some amazing RAK's to give away!!
Here is the RAK from my challenge:
Hope you join us!! Just click HERE to go to the challenge forum.

Mid Month Muse- Mixed Media Kit
Just sharing my creations I did using the June Mixed Media Kit from Flying Unicorn!
The kit is packed with all kinds of mixed media goodies and I had lots of fun creating! I love the large canvas banner included with this kit. There are so many possibilities that you can do with it. I went back and forth about what I wanted to do with it..cut it up for a canvas mini, make two banners..etc. But I just to keep as is and make myself a cool banner for my scraproom wall. For those who know me..I so love Julie Nutting's "She Art" and I made this using a tutorial from her book.
I drew all the templates out free hand and then used papers from the June Kit of the Month "A Ray of Magic" for her face, body and skirt.
I started by using the mists that came in the MM kit. I just randomly started to spray. I then wanted to add a little more color so I used Lindy's Alpine Rose and TA Glimmer Mist Marmalade. In some places I used the Quarterfoil Mask included with the kit and TCW Paint lids mask with some molding paste. I took the Garden Lattice Mask and used it around the edges with some teal Dylusions Mist. I also stamped the bg using my brick stamp and Fired Brick Distress Ink. I love the chippie letters that are in the kit and painted those yellow first and then spritzed some teal and yellow mists on those.
For her hair I drew it out first and then painted it in using the Tim Holtz Distress Paint (Vintage Photo) included in the MM kit.
Love the Petaloo Vines that are in the kit too! I topped her off holding the bouquet of flowers. I made the center flower using some strips of the Canvas Corp Fringe Ribbon from the June KOM.
For my next MM project I wanted to use the awesome Pastel Pencil Set. So I grabbed a Prima Tag I had and my Julie Nutting Prima Stamp.
For the background I used the Prima Fairy Rhymes Washi Tape from the June KOM. I took some Pink paint and rubbed it in here and there with my finger to add some color. I used the Oval Doily Frame Die Cut from Cottage Cutz. and some Flying Unicorn Metal Flowers.
I used the Pastel Pencils to color her.
Thanks for stopping by and I do hope you get a chance to use the Mixed Media Kit from Flying Unicorn!

June Kit Creations
Hey everyone!!
I can't believe it is June already! Despite the summer month, today it was windy, cold and rainy in ND and I actually had my winter coat on for awhile! So to bring in some sunshine I am going to post some layouts I did using the new June Kit from Flying Unicorn "Ray of Magic".
This first LO I did I didn't have much mojo, but in the end I was ok with it. It's a picture of my grandson whom I just adore, and everything with him on it looks good to me!!
I love the Flying Unicorn Metal Flowers/Leaves and the cute Prima metal frame was perfect! I misted the DA border with Lindy's Forest Green Mist
This next one was fun to make. I cut out diamonds with my Cricut using one of the Prima sheets in the kit and added for the background look. I fussy cut the bird and balloon as well. I used Liquid Pearls in Petal Pink around some of them.
Some of the flowers I misted with the Fireworks Angel Pink from the main kit. Here are some close ups
The last one I'll share for today was made using the yummy Authentique papers from the Cherish Collection.
Love the cute Maya Road canvas banners and those metal frames again...that are in the Embellisment Kit!! Again, I used Liquid Pearls in Platinum Pearl around the circles, took some of the DA border from the first LO, painted it and added it in 3 different places. I love Authentique papers as the quality is AMAZING!! Great to work with if you're distressing, sewing, etc. it really holds up well.
A few close ups
Don't forget that it is a new month and that means new challenges at the Unicorn Forum!!! We have such a fun time and awesome RAK's, and inspiration. One of the best things at Flying Unicorn is other than the KOM Challenge, you do NOT have to use any of our kits to participate in the challenges!!!!! You use your own stash, products..etc.!!! We love seeing what everyone brings to the table!!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!!
