April Creations

Hey everyone!

Can't believe it's already April! As I sit here inside my warm house..I look out the window and see a blizzard outside. I think Mother Nature has lost her marbles. Yesterday I was wearing capri's and sandals and today we can't even go outside!

So I decided to do my post a little early and share with you all my kit creations from Flying Unicorn. The new April kit is packed full of 7 Dots Cold Country..a fabulous new collection!

This first LO I did was super fun to create. I used a Prima Bubble stencil on my background along with 13 Arts Matte White paint, Shimmerz Texturz and Vibez.

The flowers are a mix of my stash and the Mixed Passion Add On kit. 

My next LO is of me and my best friend of 30+years. I used a Prima Flower Stencil from the store and Studio 490 Embossing Paste for my background look. I added a little Ingvild Bolme Chalk Ink in Pastel Blue.

The 3rd LO I used the Joggles Branches Stencil with my embossing paste. I wanted to do a more negative spaced LO this time. I love the little LYB Burlap tags and Wooden Embellies in the Mixed Passion Add On Kit!

The OTP is a unfinished wooden box. I decided to do a rustic feel so I grabbed my Kroma Crackle and Vintage Photo Distress Stain and went to work.

I grabbed some branches and twigs from one of my bushes outside and some items from my stash to finish off the top decor.

The following cards and tag were made using the Small Art Big Passion kit

The Mixed Art Add On has 3 cute canvases and other goodies that I used for my last project. The burlap canvas was from my stash and I used another new Prima Flora Rose Stencil., Julie Nutting Doll Stamp and left over papers from the kit.

Hey Yáll, I am Delaina Burns. I am

excited to be joining this immensely talented group here at Flying Unicorn! 

 

 I live in a small town in Alabama with my hubby of 29 years. I have 2 wonderful grown children and a beautiful granddaughter. I have been a scrapper since 2006 but a crafter as long as I can remember.  I have been blessed with many  design opportunities, including my present DT position with Prima Marketing. I hope to inspire all of you here and look forward to being inspire by all of you as well!

I grew up in Illinois, spent 18 years in Southern California and have now been re-planted in Iowa. I have the wonderful blessing of being a SAHM with my young son. I also have 3 wonderful grown daughters. My husband is pretty much everything I hope my own daughters will find in a man - he is so amazing and supportive. So a little about my background - I love everything pretty - I always have! My first job was working in a jewelry store - just because I loved stuff that sparkled. I have tried a little of this and that, like working at jobs that interested me and owning my own business, until I decided I wanted another child. Additionally, I have spent many years in performing arts, as a great love of mine is acting. I pretty much adore the whole continuum of the arts from music, writing, painting, dancing, and acting - anything creative. Now I am enjoying the journey of this amazing medium of scrapbooking and mixed media. I have been scrapping since December of 2012, so I am still relatively new to this world, but boy do I love the community! I think we are a group of the kindest, most supportive people on earth. Hopefully, I can grow with this group and we can learn and discover something spectacular along the way!

Scrap Around the World

Hey everyone!!!
This month Flying Unicorn is a sponsor at Scrap Around the World!!!!

The mood board this month is to die for!!! I love this board. When I look at it I think princess, shabby chic girls room, and of course PINK!!! I really got inspired to make a shabby chic lo!


Here is my layout. Now at SATW you don't have to use the colors of the board, you just have to choose something about the board that inspired you, but I did choose to stick with the pink. I chose to use Heartfelt Creations paper for it. Since the board reminded me of a shabby chic girlie room I tried to focus on that style.

Call me strange, but the cupcake reminded me of my Shimmerz Dazzlerz and I used it with one of my Prima stencils on the background. The butterflies reminded me of the fabric of the dress too.

March Kit of the Month Projects

Hello all!

Just sharing a few creations I did using the new March "Your Passion, Your Art Kit" from Flying Unicorn. These were made using the Main kit and the Mixed Passion Add on kit. 

I love all the Authentique Classique Elegant Papers that are included. You can really go into several different directions of style using them. For this first LO I chose to do a negative space LO. I also made this for my challenge I am hosting at the FORUMS. 

I used my brick stamp with some Black 13 Arts Paint to stamp the background. I then used the Bo Bunny Stamp that is in the main kit with Ingvild Bolme Chalk in Pastel Blue

I used the embellishment stickers/tags for a bit of layering and I really love the Petaloo Textured Flowers.

The next LO was made using 3 of the Authentique papers. I chose to use the solid and ombre sides instead of the patterned sides for this one too.

 

The Prima Chalk Flowers are in the kit and I chose to not embellish them.  The Petaloo Color Me Crazy vine is in the Mixed Passion Add on and they were a perfect edition to the kit!

This month's OTP is a white wooden latch box. At first I didn't know what direction I wanted to go with it. I covered it with Heartfelt Creations papers and then it stared at me for awhile. I chose to use it to hold my Julie Nutting Stamps and She Art templates.

Remember that at Flying Unicorn you don't need to sign up or subscribe to get a kit. It's first come first serve! That way you can see the kit first, and you're not tied into a monthly commitment. They do sell out within the few days so be sure to grab them while you can!!!
